Karel Houessionon

Karel has earned a bachelor’s degree in Physical Geography, a Master’s degree in Risk and Disaster Management and a Ph.D. in Ecosystems, Health and Sustainable Development from the University of Abomey-Calavi in Benin.

Having worked in the fields of research and Environment and Social Safeguards, Karel has around 10 years’ professional experience.

Currently, as part of his master’s degree in environmental and occupational health, he is working on the analysis of 87Sr/86Sr strontium isotope ratios in the urine of pregnant women living near hydraulic fracturing wells in northeastern British Columbia. His research activities are led by Dr. Marc-André Verner (Université de Montréal), and co-supervised by Dr. Delphine Bosson-Rieutort (Université de Montréal).
